In Iron Amino Acid Chelate, the iron is already chelated and is directly absorbed as a small peptide at the amino acid absorption sites in the small intestine. This is the most effective absorption mechanism for the iron taken orally and is available immediately to the spleen where it is sent to the bone marrow for the production of red blood cells.
